About us

Why we do this

I believe the rooms we live in shape the lives we live in them. A wall is not just a wall. A home is not just a house. The care taken with a finish says something about the people inside, and the One who made them.

Spiritus Vitae means breath of life in Latin, the same word the Hebrews wrote as Ruah, the breath of God in every living thing. The company carries our daughter Ruah's name. What we do, in our small way, is breathe life back into rooms, and her memory is the reason we do it with the care we do.

Every project is prepared properly, completed thoroughly, and cleaned up before we leave. We use premium professional-grade products. We protect your floors, your furniture, your peace of mind. We show up when we say we will. And when we leave, you see a house that looks the way you hoped it would.

We're Catholic-owned, and we serve the families and communities of Des Moines with the same care we'd give our own homes. That's also why you'll find us at the parishes, the school festivals, and the youth events, not for the marketing, but because that's the same neighborhood where the work lives.

If you're considering a project, I'd love to hear about it. The first visit is on the house, and it takes about 30 minutes.
